Privacy policy

We (creators of Plum Recipes, aka, the App) take your privacy very seriously. We do not require any personally identifiable information to use the App. We do not sell your data nor do we use any of your data for advertising.

Recipes and other data you enter into the App is synced securely to the cloud using Firebase and Google Cloud services and only accessible to you (v2.0.0). Previously with v1.x, data is synced only to iCloud and your device.

Data we may collect and how we use it

  1. Log data - In the case that you opt in to report an error in the App or share feedback to help us improve the App, we may collect Log Data, which includes the device type, operating system version, configuration of the app, and errors reported by the App. This data does not contain any Personally Identifiable Information.
  2. Anonymous usage data - We may automatically collect information about your use of the App, such as the features you interact with and the actions you take. We may an analytics service, such as PostHog, to collect this data. We do not share this data with any other third party. We use this data solely to understand how we can improve the App to serve you better.
  3. In-app purchases - If you buy the one-time Plum+ upgrade, additional non-personally identifiable data might be kept. Your billing information, address, and name are all maintained by the App Store and are not visible to us. We will simply get information about whether or not you have the in-app purchase. This is all made available to us in an anonymous fashion. This anonymous data is also shared with our purchase provider (RevenueCat).

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to provide and improve the App:

  1. Google Firebase/Google Cloud - We use Firebase Authentication, Firestore Database, and Cloud Storage to sync your recipes and data across devices. Your data is stored on Google’s secure servers. Google’s privacy policy applies to this data: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  2. PostHog - For anonymous usage analytics to help us improve the App
  3. RevenueCat - For managing in-app purchases
  4. Apple iCloud - For data sync in v1.x versions

These services may have access to your data as necessary to provide their functionality, but they are contractually bound to protect your privacy and not use your data for their own purposes.

Children data

The App do not market to anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

Business Transfers

If the App, or a substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the event that we discontinue the App and the business, this policy and its effects may change or be amended. In reality, as we try to collect as little data about you as possible, this would likely have little effect.

Data retention and deletion

Your recipe data is retained as long as you continue to use the App. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at help@plumrecipes.app. We will delete your data within 30 days of your request, except where we are required by law to retain certain information.

Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Regular security assessments
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Secure data storage with Google Cloud/Firebase

International data transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States where Google Cloud servers are located. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

Privacy Policy changes

We expect changes to this privacy policy to be minor. That said, We may change this privacy policy from time to time, at our sole discretion. Your continued use of the App after any change in this Privacy Policy will consitute acceptance of such change.

Indemnity

You hereby indemnify us and undertake to keep us indemnified against any losses, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses (including, without limitation, legal expenses and any amounts paid by us to a third party in settlement of a claim or dispute on the advice of our legal advisers) incurred or suffered by us arising out of use of this app or any breach by you of any provision of these terms of use, or arising out of any claim that you have breached any provision of these terms of use.
